

Dab the affected area once more until no indication of a stain remains. Rinse out your cloth and then place in a bowl of hot, clean water. Dab the silly putty with the detergent cloth until it has disappeared. Once the 15 minutes are up, you should get another cloth and dampen it. Grab a small bowl and mix laundry detergent with some hot water. Set a timer for 15 minutes and allow the chemicals to sit on the carpet during this time. Gently dab the silly putty with the cloth, taking care to cover the entire surface area with the stain removing chemicals. Take a clean microfiber cloth and pour a small amount of the stain remover onto it.

These have been designed to deal with substances of a similar consistency to silly putty and are likely to be the most effective. The best stain removers to use for this purpose are ones that have the word goo or gooey in the title. Make sure you dab the area and not rub it. Use a clean and dry cloth to blot the moisture from the carpet’s fibers. If you do not have nail polish remover, rubbing alcohol will work as a good substitute. Continue to repeat this process until all of the silly putty has lifted from the carpet fibers. You should next soak a cotton ball or two in a nail polish remover containing acetone. Do not rub the ice directly onto the surface of the silly putty and be sure to change out the ice regularly as it melts. Place this bag on top of the silly putty and allow it to sit for up to 3 hours to solidify. You should use enough ice cubes to cover the entire surface area of the silly putty on your carpet. To do this, place a few ice cubes inside a sealable ziplock bag. It will be much easier to scrape off once it has hardened. Rub the ice over the silly putty on the carpet to freeze it. Once you have done this, grab an ice cube from the freezer. Wipe the remaining residue with a damp sponge or cloth moistened with liquid dish soap.Use a spoon or butter knife to scrape off as much of the silly putty from the carpet’s surface as possible. Respray with WD-40 and wipe off the stain with cotton balls. Spray with WD-40 and let it stand a few minutes. Scrape off the excess Theraputty with a dull knife or metal spoon.
